Our mission at Grace is to share Christ’s love with our neighbors and world. We do that in a variety of ways, making use of the variety of gifts, talents, and passions that God has given us! Here are some of those ways:
- Food Justice. It’s no big secret that we like to eat at Grace. However, not everyone in our community has easy access to food. We take donations to maintain a small food pantry and invite community members who are in need to come for food distribution. We also open all of our community meals to the neighborhood – everyone is welcome to enjoy a hot meal and some fellowship.
- Mission Support. We provide financial support to a family of missionaries serving in Senegal, Rev. Dr. Chad and Natalie Rimmer! Chad serves as the theological advisor to the Lutheran Church in Senegal. The Rimmers always stop by Chicago when they are stateside, and we are grateful that they always make time to worship with us and share about their work and experiences. For more information on what the Rimmer family is up to, sign up for our e-mail list and keep an eye out for their quarterly newsletter.
- Immediate Needs. We maintain a small fund to help meet some of the basic needs of members of our community on a limited basis. If you are looking for help, please contact the church office and your request will be considered.
- Supporting Others. There is no way that our church alone can meet all of the needs in our community, so we provide financial support to some other wonderful organizations that address some of those concerns. Currently, we are supporting the Lutheran Day Nursery in the Logan Square/Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago; Family Shelter Service of DuPage County; St. Cyprian’s Food Pantry on the Northwest Side of Chicago; West Suburban PADS (homelessness relief and advocacy); Rainbow Hospice; and Bethesda Home (a local retirement home and skilled nursing facility).
